STATUS: SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY BY DETROIT.

The kid in the record book

Now, folks — you can say plenty about this kid, and heaven knows this site does. But open up the big Red Wings record book, the one with Howe and Yzerman and Lidström in it, and there he is: Dylan Larkin's name, sitting right up there with the saints of this franchise. And wouldn't you know it — that's exactly what makes the asking-out sting. This isn't some spare part looking for the door. This is one of the most decorated Wings of all time, written into the book in red ink, deciding he'd rather be somewhere else.

The career line, all in Detroit: 818 games · 278 goals · 371 assists · 649 points.

#1All-time
Overtime goals13

The franchise record, all his. He passed Sergei Fedorov (12) in February 2026; next come Brendan Shanahan and Steve Yzerman, 9 apiece.

When the game went to extra time, nobody in Wings history ended it more often than this kid.

#3All-time
Faceoff wins6,576

Behind only Pavel Datsyuk (7,444) and Henrik Zetterberg (7,111) — and ahead of Kris Draper (5,261) and Steve Yzerman (3,405).

Faceoffs have only been tracked since 1999-00, but look at that company — two all-time greats ahead of him, and everybody else eating his dust.

#8All-time
Shots on goal2,400+

Behind Yzerman, Lidström, Howe, Zetterberg, Fedorov, Delvecchio and Shanahan — and ahead of Pavel Datsyuk (2,244).

Over 2,400 pucks put on net in a Winged Wheel. The kid never was shy about letting it go.

#9All-time
Power-play goals86

Gordie Howe leads the whole parade with 209. Pavel Datsyuk (97) sits just above him; Ted Lindsay (80) sits just below.

Top ten on the man advantage, sandwiched between Mr. Hockey's shadow and Terrible Ted himself.

#10All-time
Goals278

Brendan Shanahan (309) is the name above him; John Ogrodnick (265) is the name below.

And a little perspective for the folks at home: Mickey Redmond scored 177 goals for Detroit — a fine total, a broadcaster's total — and this kid passed Mick a long, long time ago.

#10All-time
Points649

Ted Lindsay (728) above him; Brendan Shanahan (633) below him.

Top ten in points in the history of this franchise. That is not a typo, folks — that is the book.

#10All-time
Game-winning goals40

Norm Ullman (49) is the name just above him.

Forty times he scored the one that stood up as the winner. Forty nights he sent this town home happy.

#11All-time
Assists371

The name just above him is a defenseman, Reed Larson (382); Tomas Holmström (287) sits below.

Eleventh all-time — and the only fella ahead of him on this stretch of the page played the point.

#17All-time
Games played818

Red Kelly (846) sits just above him; Darren Helm (744) below. And the top of that list is sacred ground: Howe 1,687, Lidström 1,564, Delvecchio 1,550, Yzerman 1,514.

We'll be honest with you, folks — this one sits just outside the top 15: 818 times suited up in the Winged Wheel, 17th in team history for those counting at home, knocking on the door of the top 15 like just about everything else on this page.

So there it is, folks, in black and white — or red and white, as the case may be. Top ten in goals, top ten in points, top ten in game-winners, top ten in power-play goals, and the franchise's overtime king, full stop. You don't stumble into a list like that; you earn it, shift after shift, year after year, in front of the toughest, proudest fans in hockey. Which is precisely why it lands the way it does: a kid can be all of that — all of that — and still ask out. Well, now. The record book will keep his name forever. The question now is whether Detroit does.
